Part 3 of the HAZWOPER 40-Hour training program focuses on personal protective equipment, respiratory protection awareness, decontamination principles, waste handling awareness, and operational decision-making during hazardous work activities. Participants will learn how PPE levels are selected based on hazard conditions, how respiratory hazards and atmospheric conditions affect worker protection decisions, and how contamination control procedures help reduce exposure risk. This portion of the training also reinforces emergency response awareness, response resource use, stop-work authority, and hazard reassessment during changing site conditions. The training is designed to support practical field operations by emphasizing hazard recognition, safe decision-making, and awareness-level response actions in industrial and oil & gas environments.

This course is part of a multi-part HAZWOPER training program. To receive full credit for the 40-hour HAZWOPER training, participants must complete all assigned portions of the program, which may include:

  • Part 1 – Self-Study & Virtual Instruction
  • Part 2 – Online & Self-Study Instruction
  • Part 3 – Instructor-Led Training
  • Part 4 – Hands-On Practical Training

In addition, OSHA requires a minimum of three (3) days of supervised field experience, which must be conducted, documented, and evaluated by the participant’s employer in accordance with applicable job duties and site conditions.

Completion of this course alone does not satisfy all HAZWOPER training requirements or authorize independent hazardous waste operations work activities.

Duration: 10 Hours
Delivery Method: Self-Study + Virtual Instruction
